Character is the foundation stone upon which one must build to win respect. Just as no worthy building can be erected on a weak foundation, so no lasting reputation worthy of respect can be built on a weak character."

Answers

Character is the foundation stone upon which one must build to win respect. Just as no worthy building can be erected on a weak foundation, so no lasting reputation worthy of respect can be built on a weak character.
To answer the question, the statement emphasizes the importance of having a strong character in order to gain respect and build a lasting reputation. Here's a step-by-step explanation:
1. The statement compares the character to a foundation stone. A foundation is essential for constructing a building, as it provides stability and support. Similarly, a strong character serves as the foundation for building respect and a good reputation.
2. It states that no worthy building can be built on a weak foundation. This means that if the foundation is weak, the entire structure will be unstable and prone to collapse. In the same way, if someone's character is weak, their reputation will not be trustworthy or deserving of respect.
3. It concludes that a lasting reputation worthy of respect cannot be built on a weak character. Just like a building with a weak foundation, a reputation built on a weak character will eventually crumble and lose the respect of others.

In summary, the statement highlights the significance of character as the foundation for earning respect and building a reputable reputation. A strong character is crucial for establishing trust, reliability, and integrity, which are essential for earning respect from others.

A beautiful Place

I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.

This place is meaningful to me because it is part of the county I loved, is part of the county where I grew up and is part of my childhood. This place is in the country in an old region named Appalachia, a small piece of the Appalachian Mountains, in a town named Pikeville.

Pikeville is a polluted town because of the coal industry. People live in apartment or condominium buildings because of its little space available. I grew up in one of the many buildings in Pikeville admiring from my bedroom window the beauty of the mountains, always exploring with my eyes the forest or the meadows, looking for a clean and quiet place. And, I found one on a hill in the back of the town. It is about 100 feet square, it has seven old trees, wild flowers and a lot of bugs and ants during summer time.

I used to go there to sit down on a rock and watch the town and my trees. There was a very old tree, a maple tree, with a huge trunk. The others were smaller, three in the back, three on my left side and the old maple tree on my right. There were flowers, many kinds, white, yellow, purple and blue. It was nobody's place. Nobody owned that hill, but it was beautiful and peaceful and I dreamed many times about a white house over there.

I think that, these kinds of places are meaningful to people because they are natural and people can be there alone, away from their everyday life.

I used to go there to be alone or to dream with my eyes open admiring the blue sky or the clouds. I liked to go there to lay down on the grass, listen to the wind, kiss the flowers and watch the leaves moving. It was hard to go up the hill to get there, but I wanted to see everyday my seven trees, to see how the color of the leaves changed and to feel the softness of the grass.

In the context of the poem, which image most fully reflects the speaker's dissapproval of the neighbors attitudes
Mending wall

Answers

Answer:

D). "He moves in darkness."(line 41)

Explanation:

In the context of the poem 'Mending Wall' penned by Frost, the speaker talks about a wall that 'repairing' or 'mending' the wall that isolates the speaker's house and his neighbor.

As per the question, the line 'he moves in darkness' suggests that the author disapproves of the neighbor's attitude of having walls as feels that the wall acts as a barrier that prevents the two neighbors from sharing each other's thoughts and compel them to move in isolation. Yet the other aspect of having walls is presented through the perspective of the neighbor that it offers the necessary space to neighbors and keeps their friendship long-lasting. Thus, option D is the correct answer.

Q1. Write a sentence or two for each question
a) What is the population for this sample survey?
b) what as the desired sample?
c) Is this a census?
d) what is the natural "frame" for this survey?
Q2. How is item non-response likely for each questions asked in the survey above and how would it affect or bias the result for each questions?

Answers

Item non-response can introduce bias into survey results, leading to underestimation or overestimation of certain characteristics or population proportions.

1. a. The population for this sample survey is not specified in the given information.

b.  which indicates the number of individuals the researchers aimed to include in their study.

c. This survey is not a census because it does not aim to collect data from the entire population.

d. The natural "frame" for this survey could be the group of individuals eligible to participate based on the criteria set by the researchers.

2. Item non-response can introduce bias and affect the reliability and representativeness of the survey results.

1. Sentence or two for each question:

a) The population for this sample survey is not specified in the given information. Without knowing the target population, it is difficult to determine the representativeness of the sample.

b) The desired sample size for this survey was 250 participants, which indicates the number of individuals the researchers aimed to include in their study.

c) This survey is not a census because it does not aim to collect data from the entire population. Instead, it gathers information from a subset of individuals (the sample) to make inferences about the larger population.

d) The natural "frame" for this survey could be the group of individuals eligible to participate based on the criteria set by the researchers. It could be, for example, individuals of a certain age range, students of a specific university, or residents of a particular city. However, the specific frame is not mentioned in the given information.

Q2. Explanation of item non-response and its potential impact on survey results:

Item non-response refers to the situation when participants in a survey choose not to answer specific questions. In the given survey, there were four questions asked: about unemployment status, place of birth, height, and weight, along with an additional question about the participant's major. Item non-response can introduce bias and affect the reliability and representativeness of the survey results.

For the question on unemployment, item non-response could potentially lead to underestimation or overestimation of the unemployment rate. If individuals who are unemployed choose not to answer the question, the reported unemployment rate may be lower than the true value. Conversely, if those who are employed refuse to answer, it may lead to an inflated unemployment rate. This bias depends on the reasons for non-response, such as individuals feeling uncomfortable or unwilling to disclose their employment status.

Regarding questions about birthplace, height, and weight, item non-response may introduce selection bias. Participants who choose not to answer these questions could have different characteristics from those who provide the information. For example, if individuals with certain birthplaces or body types are more likely to decline to answer, it could affect the representativeness of the sample and bias the results towards particular demographics.

In summary, item non-response can introduce bias into survey results, leading to underestimation or overestimation of certain characteristics or population proportions. To mitigate this bias, it is important to analyze the patterns of non-response and consider appropriate weighting and imputation techniques to make the results more representative of the target population.

HELP I CANT UNDERSTAND?!

What point of view is this poem written from? Quote from the poem to support an answer

HELP I CANT UNDERSTAND?!What point of view is this poem written from? Quote from the poem to support

Answers

Answer:

The poem is written in first person.

Explanation:

The reason for this is their use of "I" and "My" in the poem. Like for example, "I take five sea smooth stones in my mouth," in which they is talking about themselves. Their is also the line "My son a lion like his dad," that also helps you know this is the authors pov.

- Notes to remember

- First person will mean that one of the characters (or the author) is narrating the story/poem. You'll know its first person because it will use many "I's," "Me's," "Myself's," and ect. (example: I am really tired.") If you read fanfiction this is one of the most used povs.

-second person is when the pov is strustured around the "You" pronoun. (example: You were really tired.) If you read fanfiction you'll probably see this a few times, thought its not as common as first person.

-Third person is when the author is narrating the story about the characters. (Example: "He was really tired.") now third person has two uses. There's Omniscient and Limited.

Third person Omniscient is when the narrator knows everything about the story and characters.  (Example: He had been infected with the virus, but he didn't know it yet.)

Third person Limited means sticks closely to one character but remains in third person. This means the author still knows everything, but they also know the feelings and thoughts of the character they are sticking with. They will only reveal the thoughts and feelings of that one character thought.
